VERA
For adults in immigration detention: The organization Freedom for Immigrants has a hotline for detained immigrants and their loved ones. The phone number is 209-757-3733, or 9233 for people calling from a detention center. You can also check out this list of organizations that provide legal assistance in immigration detention centers in various states.

Della Lamb
Della Lamb Community Services has played an important role in the development of Kansas City. During its 120+ years in an ever-changing world, Della Lamb has developed a network of services which move children and families out of poverty and toward an improved quality of life and, ultimately, to self-sufficiency.

KU School of Law
The KU School of Law Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) is a collaboration between the KU School of Law and two health systems: The University of Kansas Health System at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, and LMH Health in Lawrence. Under the supervision of experienced MLP attorneys, students assist in providing free transactional legal assistance to low-income patients and their families.

JVS
JVS immigration counselors work one-on-one with refugees and immigrants to complete family-based immigration applications, applications to adjust to permanent resident status, and naturalization applications. They also assist with applying for some humanitarian-based immigration benefits. Their citizenship services fully integrate immigrants into Kansas City’s society so they can have all the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens.
