*On all referrals, PLEASE NOTE for us the city/town of the individual’s residence, their alien registration number if known, and/or their immigration court date if in removal proceedings.

U VISAS
​
What it is:
A U visa helps noncitizens who were victims of certain, serious crimes in the U.S. and helped law enforcement during the investigative or prosecutorial process. It offers protection from deportation and a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Was a victim of a crime OR has a direct family member who was a victim of a crime (e.g., domestic violence, assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, stalking or any attempt thereof, etc.).

Willing to or already reported or cooperated with police or prosecutors.
-
Suffered harm (physical or emotional).
-
Has no legal status or fears deportation.
Please note for us (if known): Type of crime and when and where it happened and whether it was reported.
T VISAS
What it is:
A T visa helps noncitizens who were victims of human (labor or sex) trafficking in the U.S. It offers protection from deportation and a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Was recruited for, forced, tricked, or coerced into work or sex.

Could not leave or quit because of threats, debt, abuse, or fear.

Someone took or controlled their passport, money, or freedom.
-
Is willing to cooperate with law enforcement (or already has).

Has no legal status or fears deportation.

VAWA PETITION
What it is:
A VAWA petition helps noncitizens who were victims of abuse – physical, financial, or emotional – by their U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouses, parents, or children. It offers protection from deportation, potential cancellation from removal, and a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Was married to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident who abused them.

Was the son or daughter of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident who abused them.
-
Was the parent of a U.S. citizen who abused them.
-
Lived with the abusive family member in the U.S.
-
Has no legal status or fears deportation.

ASYLUM
What it is:
A grant of asylum helps noncitizens who fear return to their country of origin due to past or future harm or threats of harm. It offers protection from deportation and a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Fears return to their country of origin because of past or future harm or threats of harm.

Has no legal status or fears deportation.
SPECIAL IMMIGRANT JUVENILE PETITION
What it is:
A special immigrant juvenile petition helps noncitizen, unaccompanied minors who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected by one or both parents. It offers a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Was abandoned (even via death or imprisonment), abused, or neglected by one or both parents.

Is under the age of eighteen.
-
Has resided in Missouri for six months or in Kansas for any length of time.

Has no legal status or fears deportation.
ASYLUM FOR MINORS
What it is:
A TVPRA asylum helps noncitizen minors who fear return to their country of origin because of past or future harm or threats of harm. It offers potential protection from deportation, a work card, and a path to a green card.
Refer if the person:

Is under the age of eighteen (or recently turned eighteen).

Fears return to their country of origin because of past or future harm or threats of harm.

Has no legal status or fears deportation.

Because our office will conduct a complete screening after receiving the referral, please refer even if you are unsure about the prospective applicant meeting the conditions outlined above. Additionally, some of these applications may benefit qualifying family members so information on any family members is useful.
